HISTORY OF PROJECT

Women: A World of Inspiration is centred on initiating and developing connections and collaborations among influential, inspiring women from all walks of life and from around the world who are outstanding in their fields.

The project has been initiated during a three-year Fellowship that Zerbanoo Gifford was awarded from NESTA (the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts). NESTA: National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts

This project offers an exceptional and timely opportunity for women to share and develop their strengths within a networked structure.

Women at the top of their fields within broad categories have been interviewed. There will be two books published by Zerbanoo, inspired by their lives, experiences and philosophies, which will address the major themes of our time and seek to inspire women all over the world by sharing secrets of success and strategies for individuals and community empowerment. Watch this space for publication dates.

The project will also have several other outcomes including an international portraiture exhibition that will tour several prominent galleries around the world; a lecture series and several conferences for the women to collaborate on shared projects.

This dedicated website will keep you up-to-date with these various activities as well as profile the outstanding women interviewed. The website’s goals are manifold, and expanding in stages:
1) profile inspirational women and their work
2) create a mentoring service for young people
3) help people work together towards a shared noble goal

The project is befitting a new century, when we have so many resources available for communication and yet still fail to connect meaningfully in order to tackle basic enduring problems such as violence, hunger and poverty, as well as the urgent spectre of terrorism. Throughout history there has been speculation about how women, with their different understandings of power and communication, could change the patterns of hostility, fear and prejudice that have sustained our unequal world order. This venture will provide an opportunity for such speculation to become reality. It will offer a catalyst and a model for the future.
