Lynn Jones Parry

Lynn Jones Parry is wife of the British Ambassador to the United Nations in New York, where her husband is the UK Permanent Representative. From 2001 – 2003 they carried out similar responsibilities in NATO Brussels.

In New York Lynn is Co-President of the Women’s International Forum which informs women on topical international issues. She is also on the board of Off The Record which has close links with the prestigious Foreign Policy Association. Much of her time is spent raising money for charities recently to bring humanitarian relief in Darfur and also to aid research on HIV/Aids.

Lynn, as a graduate biologist with a passion for the subject now lectures on DNA and basic genetics to adult non-scientists both in the UN and New York communities. Additionally she undertakes the heavy representational role of the British Permanent Representative.

A senior house-head when her husband was still carrying out research in polymer physics, Lynn has accompanied her husband on diplomatic postings to Ottawa, Brussels (twice), Madrid, and now New York. Throughout, and during home postings in London she has pursued her love of education. She did a masters degree in Counselling in Ottawa and has taught for much of this time, including several years as head of biology at the British School of Brussels.

Lynn and her husband have two grown up sons, Mark (28) and Paul (25), who both studied science like there parents. They were able to benefit linguistically from postings, both attending school in Brussels.
