After a career spanning three continents and fifty years, Maureen Milgram Forrest says she is retired. She became the Chair of Leicestershire Learning & Skills Council in 2005. She is the founding chair of the LeicestHERday Trust and this year's co-chair. She set up a trust with her husband Alan Forrest - the Milgram Forrest Trust - to assist young people to gain education and skills for the future. She gives her time to environmental causes and the local community.
Her career highlights include Special Executive for the Leicester Mercury, Project Director for the British Record Industry Trust Performing Arts and Technology School, and work in the electronic media, arts and construction industries. She spent a lot of her career in radio working for both commercial radio in Canada and a brief sojourn with BBC Radio Leicester running a feature called Just for Funds in the afternoon show.
Using the skills she has acquired in over fifty years of working in both business and the community, she is dedicated to sharing her knowledge with those who need it. She has recently added Scarman Trust to a list of prestigious organisations for whom she offers mentoring skills.
The Milgram Forrest Trust makes awards to young people in Canada and the UK for unique contribution to innovation, creativity and work in the community.
