Mithali Raj

Mithali Raj was born on the 3rd December 1982, in Jodhpur, Rajastan and has emerged as one of India's most capable batswomen. Mithali originally trained as a classical dancer, which helped her footwork and agility. She cultivated her game in a boy's holiday camps and has gone on to play with stars like Purnima Rau, Anjum Chopra and Anju Jain for Air India. She is now the captain of the Indian women's cricket team. Her composure when at the crease and ability to score briskly make her a dangerous character.

Mithali has grasped every opportunity she has been presented and impressed. Coming to the wicket at times when batting is difficult, Mithali has shown an ability to soldier on without being perturbed.

India is one of only 13 nations with a women's team playing one-day international cricket, and one of only seven where women play test matches. Mithali coaches a girl's team in Hyderbad and wants to see more resources and encouragement for women's cricket.
