Vivienne Faull

Vivienne Faull was the first woman appointed by the Church of England to lead a cathedral as Provost in 2000. She is now Dean (following a subtle change in the laws governing cathedrals) and is one of (still) only two women Deans. She has been at the forefront of the changes in the role of women in the church, beginning as a Deaconess in 1982, and then working as a chaplain at Cambridge University, before moving into the world of cathedrals. She is a member of the General Synod, the Church of England's governing body, which is currently debating the possibility of making it legal for women to become Bishops.
